Over winter break this year, my husband and I traveled to Spain (me for the eighth time!) for 10 days. While most of our trip was spent visiting family in Asturias, we still had some time to explore Madrid, Salamanca, el Valle de los Caídos, and Gijón. Of course, I can't travel without taking a few pictures along the way. :)
Unlike in the United States, in Spain Christmas lasts for twelve days, from December 25th through January 6th, culminating in the giving of gifts on Three Kings' Day. The night before Three Kings' Day, we got to see the three kings themselves in parade through Gijón. Melchor, Gaspar, and Batalsar were accompanied by their respective entourages, and camels were led carrying the children's presents for the next day.
Below are a few favorite images from our trip. ¡Feliz Día de los Reyes Magos!
