Surprise proposals are so much fun to photograph! Last Saturday Emily and Colin got engaged at the Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake, and it was one of my favorite events all season! (Seriously- as I was editing I just kept smiling looking at their images!)
Colin reached out to me about capturing the proposal, which he had planned as the end of a romantic day full of wine tasting and touring in Geneva, and we planned out the details throughout the week ahead of time. The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake is a special spot for Emily and Colin, as it was the site of one of their first trips together as a couple, and it made the perfect backdrop for Colin's proposal. Since there is a large open space in front of its iconic gazebo (not such an easy spot to hide in a bush!), I brought my assistant Sapna to pose as a senior I was photographing to avoid Emily getting suspicious of my loads of camera equipment. Colin told Emily that he wanted to get a selfie in front of the gazebo as I waited with Sapna nearby. The plan worked (mostly- Emily was already a bit suspicious by the time they got to the lodge!) and she said yes!
After the big moment, we explored the area around the lodge for a few portraits, which were full of excitement and the emotion of being newly engaged. Colin's family met up with us at the end of the night and everyone went out for a celebratory dinner together after dusk. Congratulations Emily and Colin on their engagement!
