In early August, I had the pleasure of photographing Shannon and Ed's wedding at Saint Barnabas Catholic Church in Northfield and reception at Windows on the River in downtown Cleveland. Shannon and Ed live in Columbus, but they wanted to celebrate their Cleveland roots by tying the knot here, surrounded by their family and friends from all over Ohio (and their dog Dub, who was a part of the morning preparations!). My friend Abel joined me to help capture the day.
I started off the day with Shannon as she got ready at her parents' house in Northfield, and Abel began with Ed and his groomsmen at the Holiday Inn downtown. The weather was just beautiful, and the guys had a few minutes to explore East Fourth Street before making the drive to the church. Shannon and Ed's ceremony at Saint Barnabas was sweet and full of laughs, and it was followed by a fun bubble exit. After the ceremony, we headed to the Brecksville Reservation for portraits at Brecksville Station and Station Road Bridge in the Cleveland Metroparks. The Cuyahoga Valley Railroad even made a station stop when we were shooting! Afterward, we drove downtown for a few quick images in front of the iconic Cleveland sign at Voinovich Park and the city skyline.
Shannon and Ed's reception was at Windows on the River on the West Bank of the Flats, and it was gorgeous! The reception began with a cocktail hour next to the pier, where the Goo Goo Dolls were playing next door. (Unfortunately they didn't crash the wedding, though!) Cocktail hour was followed by dinner and several unforgettable toasts, including a toast by the flower girl herself as well as a custom performance by Shannon's sisters Amy and Jessica. At dusk, Shannon, Ed and I went out to the pier for a few last portraits on the river as the sun set.
Congratulations to Shannon and Ed on their wedding! A few favorite images are below.
