Otto: Bar Mitzvah at Congregation Beth Tikvah in Worthington

The first weekend of August, I traveled to Columbus for Otto's bar mitzvah at Congregation Beth Tikvah in Worthington. I first met Otto and his family three years ago when I was photographing his older sister Emma's bat mitzvah, and it was so much fun to work with everyone again and recognize so many familiar faces! 

It has also been such a pleasure getting to know Otto throughout both the planning process and during his day, and I am in awe of both what he has accomplished and who he is as a person. He is incredibly kind, passionate about his interests like horseback riding and caring for plants, and above all, he is never afraid to be himself. That's something that a lot of adults are still working on! Throughout Otto's day, his family and friends reverberated messages about Otto's integrity and spirit, connectedness to nature, and the fact that in many cases, he taught them more than they taught him. Otto also was sure to thank those who have made a difference in his life- and he made sure to include his favorite horse Bingo on the list!

Mazel tov to Otto on becoming bar mitzvah. I am so excited to see where he goes next!
